Welcome to Reception - Spring Term 2020

Mrs Sherriff, Mrs Appleby, Miss Clements, Mrs Monaghan, Mrs Hill, Mrs Benbow and Mrs Sgroi.
The Reception Team!

Our topic for the first half of the spring term is ‘People who help us’. We will be finding out about different jobs within the community. Jobs people have that help people. For example; the fire, police and medical services.

In phonics the children will continue with phase 3 of letters and sounds. This phase focuses mainly on digraphs. We will still be consolidating previous learning in daily phonics sessions and weekly group writing activities.

In Maths we shall be working on numbers to 20. We will continue to practice one more and one less than a given number to 20. We will practice counting forwards and backwards from any number between 0 and 20. We will be using objects and numberlines to help us add and subtract. We will also be grouping and sharing quantities and objects and solving practical problems.

We will continue to do PE once a week on a Thursday afternoon.  The children will need their PE kits, but they do not need plimsolls as they will take part in these sessions with bare feet in the hall.  We will be focusing on gymnastics this half term.
