This term is full of exciting new challenges and experiences.  


In the first half of the summer term, we are following the Understanding Christianity Unit on Incarnation and God, asking the Big Question “What is the Trinity?” We will be looking at Baptism of Jesus and the symbolism of Baptism today, how the Trinity is represented and the meaning of the Grace.

We will then be following the Emmanuel Project Unit on Judaism, considering the question “What symbols and stories help Jewish people remember their covenant with God?”


In Heartsmart our focus is “Fake is a mistake”. The children will be thinking about accepting that the real me is the best me, identifying what is unique about them and understanding what shame is.


In music this term the children will be:

  • Exploring timbre to create a descriptive piece of music
  • Learning about ternary form
  • Singing a songs with expression
  • Selecting descriptive sounds to accompany a poem
  • Creating a musical re-telling of a poem
  • Singing in two-part harmony
  • Developing the lyrics of a song
  • Combining chants and sound pictures in a class performance in
  • rondo structure


Before half-term we are focussing on dance in our indoor PE lesson, creating a dance inspired by the movement of machines. In our outdoor lessons we are learning the key skills needed for hockey.

After half-term, we will be focussing on athletics and introducing the children to the key elements of running, jumping and throwing, developing their knowledge, skills and understanding enabling them to take part successfully in a range of athletic activities. Great preparation for our Sports Day!
