Foundation Subjects and Science
This term is full of exciting new challenges and experiences.
In music, we are excited to be learning how to play the glockenspiel. We will be building on previous skills of pitch, tempo and dynamics as well as learning the notes needed to play simple tunes.
During our PE sessions we will focus on healthy active lifestyles where we learn yoga, and practise our games skills where we will be building up to playing a small game with a group involving fielding and striking. We will also be developing our athletics skills in preparation for sports day.
In RE we will continue to reflect on the Easter story through exploring the best symbols that represent Jesus’ death and resurrection. We will then move onto finding out about Judaism, focussing on how they pray and worship.
Through our computing curriculum we will be inspired by impressionist art to create our own artwork using the programme ‘2 Paint a Picture’. Linking with the skills taught in music we will also explore composing our own music using the programme ‘2 Sequence’.
We will be developing our sewing skills by learning how to create a running stitch in design and technology. We will then use this skill to design and make our very own felt pouches.
Our first HeartSmart PSHE unit is ‘Fake is a mistake!’ – unpacking how to bravely communicate truth and be proud of who we are. We discuss what makes us unique and special and if we have unkind thoughts about ourselves we can catch it and replace it with a true and kind thought. We then focus on ‘No way through isn’t true!’ – knowing that there is a way through every situation no matter how hard it may seem.
The documents below will give you a flavour of what children will work on this term in science, history, geography and art.
