Linking with our History unit of the Industrial Revolution and then the Victorians we will be using The Hound of the Baskervilles to guide our writing. The children will experience the original text written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as well as a graphic novel retelling. They will be writing cliff-hanger narratives and formal reports during the first half term. 

For our final half term in Year 5 we will be using ‘The Promise’ to guide our writing. The children will be descripting the characters within the text and writing a newspaper report about the events from the story.   

Maths

Children will learning how to convert metric and imperial units of measure. We will then move to working with decimals.
