This event will take place on 09/10/2019.

Our school Harvest Festival Collective Worship will take place on Wednesday 9th October 2019.

This is a time to reflect and be thankful for the variety of food we have, and learn about the way our food is grown all around the world.

As a school we also use this time of the Christian calendar to think about people and places that are less fortunate than us and want to provide the children with the opportunity to make a difference in another person’s life.  As a result, our Harvest Festival will once again support Peterborough Food Bank.

This year we are going to hold a Tin Race!  During the week beginning 7th October we would like to collect as many tins as possible for the food bank. Please send in tins of food from the list below into your child/children’s class during that weekThe number of tins each class collects will be recorded and there will be a tin of sweets as a prize for the class that collects the most tins in each key stage (Reception, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2).

A list of appropriate tinned food items that the food bank accepts is listed below and is also on their website.  (They have specifically asked for no baked beans as they have an abundance of these at the moment.)

  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned meat/fish
  • Tinned soup
  • Tinned spaghetti
  • Tinned rice pudding/sponge pudding
  • Tinned custard
  • Tinned sauces

Peterborough food bank is part of the Trussell Trust and you can find further information about them at http://peterborough.foodbank.org.uk.

Please note that our Harvest Festival is a whole school celebration and is only for the children at school to attend.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and generosity.
