Celebrating Faith,
Learning and Success

St Botolph's Church of England Primary School

Friday Briefing - 09/02/2018

We have begun our next unit on Time /  How animals from the wild grow and change
English:  We have been identifying features of a news article.  We wrote a news report linked to the Lonely Beast text, using these features.
Maths:  We have begun our next unit on Time.  We have been recognising how many minutes are in an hour and counting around the clock in 5s to label times past the hour.  We have been estimating how long certain tasks take to complete e.g how many minutes we brush our teeth for or hours we sleep for.
Science: We have been looking at how animals from the wild grow and change and noticing their differences and similarities to humans.
PE:  Each group has chosen an animal to play the role of.  They have prepared and presented their dance routines to their class.
Geography: We thought about the types of animals that would live in hot and cold climates.  We compared these animals and why their habitat was suitable for their survival.
RE: We listed the roles that are traditionally at a Christian wedding and have begun to choose the parts each of us is going to play.  We will be writing invitations today.
Art: We have been mixing primary colours to make secondary colours.  We have used black and white to make them darker and lighter.
Homework: Record a weather chart for the half term week using symbols.
Our Year 2 wedding will be held on Friday 2nd March:  Sid will be our Vicar.   The children have various roles to play.  We would appreciate your help in providing a smart outfit for your child. We have some resources in school that could be used dependent on size.
Please ensure reading books and diaries are in school everyday.
Please remember to return homework and spelling books on a Tuesday.
