Monday Briefing Blog 9.12.19

Monday 2nd - Friday 6th December
Firstly a big thank you to all who attended our Christmas Bazaar. We hope you enjoyed it and are pleased with any purchases you made!
The week leading up to it has been another busy, crafty one, with us adding the finishing touches to our crafts and starting other Christmas creations.
In phonics we have been continuing phase 5, looking at the alternative spellings of known digraphs (two letters that make one sound together).
This week we have looked at the digraph 'ue' (blue) and recapped the others we have learnt in phase 5 so far ('ir', 'ay', 'ea', 'ie', 'oy'). We have also practised writing the tricky/ high frequency words, 'Mr, Mrs, looked and called'.
In maths we have been thinking back to our first half term, revisiting the skills we learned in our topics 'Numbers to 10' and 'Shapes and Patterns'.
In English, we completed our retelling of Cinderella, continuing to use our story-maps for support.
