Celebrating Faith,
Learning and Success

St Botolph's Church of England Primary School

Monday Briefing - 20.05.2019

We have been using our senses to describe the fruits that we tasted.

Phonics – We have been revisiting reading and spelling tricky words that they should know.  We have been practising reading alien words that contain a variety of diagraphs and triagraphs.

Maths – We have been comparing the mass of 3 objects using the balancing scales.  We then placed them in order from lightest to heaviest.  We then weighed objects using cubes and marbles.  We introduced a kilogram weight and sorted objects into groups weighing less than, about and more that 1 kilogram.

Literacy – We have been using our senses to describe the fruits that we tasted.  We then used these adjectives to help us write similes.  For example, ‘The apple sounds crunchy like snow.’  We also wrote similes about different animals, i.e. ‘A kangaroo is as bouncy as a ball.’
