Celebrating Faith,
Learning and Success

St Botolph's Church of England Primary School

Monday Breifing - 13.05.2019

We have started looking at mass and comparing the weights of different objects using balancing scales.

Phonics – The children who are practising for the phonics screening have been practising reading the triagraphs air, igh, ear and ure in real and alien words.  The other children have been revisiting /c/  and /g/ and spelling them correctly in words.

Maths – We have been measuring objects using a metre stick. We sorted objects into groups, ‘about half a metre’, ‘about a metre’ and ‘taller than a metre.  We’ve also been using cubes to measure shorter objects.  We have started looking at mass and comparing the weights of different objects using balancing scales.

Literacy – We have been listening to and reciting poems.  We came up with our own actions to a poem and performed them in groups.  We made text maps, where we drew pictures, to help recite the poem.
