Friday Briefing - 15/06/18

This week we have been thinking about train journeys, continued with phase 4 of letters and sounds and been solving problems using addition and subtraction.
Topic:
This week we have been thinking about train journeys. Our focus story was The Train Ride by June Crebbin. The children wrote about what they might see out of the window on a train journey and some of them also drew pictures. We also turned the role play into a train station so the children have been making tickets and pretending to go on the train.
Phonics:
In phonics this week we have continued with phase 4 of letters and sounds. We have been continuing reading and writing cvcc and ccvc words, for example ‘tent’ and ‘plum’. We have also introduced the tricky words ‘have’ and ‘are’.
Maths:
In maths this week we have been solving problems using addition and subtraction. For example, if there are 10 people on a train and five get off, how many are left.
