Thursday Briefing Blog - 31.10.2019

This week we have been thinking about Diwali.

Topic    This week we have begun our new topic ‘Celebrations’. Over the coming weeks we will look at different things that people celebrate. This week we have been thinking about Diwali. The children are making coconut sweets which they will bring home tomorrow. (They contain condensed milk, coconut, sugar and food colouring).

Phonics  In phonics this week we have continued phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. We have taught the letters ‘e’, ‘u’ and ‘r’ and their corresponding sounds. The children have practised writing cvc words, for example ‘m-u-m’ and ‘d-e-n’.

Maths This week in maths we have been looking at measure. The children have ordered three objects by size, using the vocabulary of big, bigger, biggest; small, smaller and smallest. We have also looked at capacity, ‘full, empty and half full.

•Our Nativity play to parents will be on Tuesday 10th December at 2pm.
