WELCOME TO YEAR  3 – Autumn TERM 2018

miss Satari, miss jukes, Mrs Scibelli, mrs Hill, Mrs webb, mrs hurst and mrs runacres.

During the second part of the AutumnTerm our topic is “Stone Age to the Iron Age”.  We will be visiting Flag Fen to learn more about this period of time. In Science we will be learning about forces and magnets which links nicely with the book we are going to read in English.

English

We will be reading the story of the Iron Man. We will learning to describe different characters and how they might be feeling. We will also be introducing inverted commas into our Grammar lessons as this is a feature of a Newspaper Report.

P.E

Children will have one session of PE a week on a Monday. All children need appropriate indoor and outdoor PE kits in school for these days. For health and safety purposes children must remove earrings and tie their hair back if it's longer than their shoulders.

All children need the following PE kit:

Indoor: Light blue t-shirt, (available from school), navy blue shorts, white socks and indoor trainers.

Outdoor: In addition to their indoor kit they need a navy sweat shirt (without a hood and different from their school sweatshirt as it may get wet or dirty), navy tracksuit bottoms (no logos please) and outdoor trainers.

(These days are subject to change due to other events happening in school)

READING

We will continue to listen to your child read in our Destination Reader Sessions.  Please continue to support your child by reading daily at home.  Once your child has finished reading and discussing their reading book they can independently change them.
