World Book Day 2018

We are starting our World Book Day celebrations early this year with lots of exciting reading activities. We are delighted to let you know that the following things are happening:

Monday 19th February, we will have an author visiting us in school. Sayeh Stone is a local children's author. She will read her book, Shaped Animals, to the children and they will have the opportunity to ask her any questions and to learn about her journey to become a published author. There will also be a chance for the children to buy a copy of her book. Look further into the newsletter for more information.

Monday 19th to Sunday 25th February  we are holding a  sponsored read. We hope that as many children (and adults who work in school) will try to read each day and get sponsored for doing so.  Usborne books are supporting this activity.

Friday 23rd February  we will also be running a book fair in the Activity Room. There will be the opportunity for parents of Reception and Key Stage 1 children to  visit the Book Fair before the start of school . It will be Key Stage 2‘s turn after school. Each class will also be able to go to the Book Fair during the day. Money raised from the sponsored read and Book Fair will allow us to buy much needed books for our libraries and classrooms!

Details about how to order books and everything you will need for the sponsored read will be sent home on Friday 9th  February.

We will not be asking the children to dress up for World Book Day this year, but there will be book and reading related activities on the day.
