St Botolph's are sponsoring a guide dog puppy called Otis and the picutes are of puppies of a similar age being trained in the local area.

Ruth is training Mickie (black cross lab/retriever) who is 9 weeks old and Lorraine is training Ursula, an 18 week old labrador. They wanted to bring the dogs into the school to help socialise them and get them used to noise and distractions (the idea being that they learn to ignore all of that, and are still able to listen and follow instructions from their trainers).

They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were very impressed by the questions the children asked and how well behaved they were. Lorraine and her puppy, Ursula, visited some year 4 children with their reception reading buddies whilst Ruth with Mickie visited Mrs White's year 2 children. Some of the children measured the dogs, patted them and the dogs showed which commands they knew.

They will  be returning again in the future so that we can see how they have grown, and how well they are getting on with their training and will also be receiving updates of our sponsored puppy.
