Friday Briefing - 10/11/2017

English:  We have been writing about Christopher Columbus' life then editing.  Our grammar focus has been constructing sentences from given words and adding our own words and punctuation so they make sense.
 
Phonics: All tricky words in phase 5a.
We have recapped all the split diagraphs in phase 5 and have worked on alternate pronunciations for 'i' trick, stick, mind, behind.
 
Maths: We are continuing our work on bar models to help solve addition and subtraction calculations. We have used paper bar models and drawn our own. 
 
Design: We have made islands from our designs.
 
PE: Multiskills: aiming at a target - we used beanbags and hoops to make a target. Please ensure you send your child with some tape if they cannot take their earrings out or we can use school masking tape to cover them.   
History: We designed a ship for Christopher Columbus and labelled it's parts.
 
Science: We have chosen facts about John McAdam to write in a non-chronological report.
 
RE: We will continue writing and illustrating our story map that tells the Christmas story.
 
Homework: Write an acrostic poem for Remembrance day. 
 
Please ensure reading books and diaries are in school everyday.
