Monday Briefing - 08.10.18

Phonics – We focused on the diagraphs er, ow, oi and the trigraph ear.  We practised reading and writing words with these sounds.

Maths – Our unit is ‘numbers to 10’

We have been exploring doubling and halving this week using counters and cubes.  We have been using our part-whole models to record our ideas.  We have also been practising finding one more and one less.

English – Our book focus is ‘Man on the Moon’.

We have been writing our own version of the story and named it ‘Child on the moon’.  We have been focusing on capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, using ‘and’ to extend our sentences and using adjectives to add description.

We didn’t start spellings as Mrs Mitchell wasn’t in. We are hoping to start them this week.
