Monday Briefing - 12.11.2018

Phonics – We practised reading and writing ccvc words like spot.

Grammar – We have been editing and improving sentences by adding capital letters and full stops.

Maths – Our unit is ‘addition and subtraction.’

We have been solving addition and subtraction equations and choosing a method that we have been taught.  We started our new unit shapes and patterns.  We looked at some 3D shapes, learnt their names and started to describe them using ‘faces’, ‘vertices’ and ‘edges’

English – Our book focus is ‘The Jolly Postman’.

We have been learning how to write lists by writing our own ingredients for a Witch’s potion.  We have been learning how to use ‘and’ to link two ideas in a sentence when describing what the potion does to you.  We have also been writing captions for Jack and the Beanstalk pictures.

Reading challenge – We are challenging the children to read at least 4 times a week.  Please make sure that you sign the diary when your child reads to you.
