Thursday Briefing - 18.10.18

Topic This week our focus has been the seasons and particularly autumn.  We read the book Seasons come, Seasons go – The Tree. We have made autumn tree pictures using different material and have learnt about what happens in autumn.

Phonics  In phonics this week we have continued phase 2 of Letters and Sounds.  We have taught the sounds ‘o’, ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘ck’.  We have also learnt the tricky word ‘I’ and used our knowledge of the letters to read simple sentences such as ‘I am Dad’.

Maths This week in maths we have continued to look at numbers up to 6.  We have been singing lots of number songs and also used number fans to find the numbers to represent objects on our big picture which is part of our maths mastery focus.
