Thursday Briefing - 04.10.2018

Topic  This week as part of our topic we have read ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs. The children have thought about their favourite toy and why they like them.

Phonics  In phonics this week we have continued phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. We have taught the sounds ‘p’ ‘i’ and ‘n’. The children made ‘peculiar pizzas’ which could only be topped by items beginning with the ‘p’ sound. In the creative area the children had the opportunity to make instruments. The children practised forming the letters correctly and we are making sure that the children use a tripod grip when holding their pencil.

Maths This week in maths we have looked at the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We ensure that the children count accurately with one to one correspondence. We have used the rhyme ‘two little dickie birds’ and also ‘three blind mice’.

•Thursday 4th October – flu vaccinations
Tuesday 9th October – nurses will be in school to give a pre-screening talk to the children to prepare the children for their health check on the 15th
