Friday Briefing - 08/06/18

This week we introduced our new topic ‘Journeys’. The children have had the opportunity to bring in photos from home to ‘show and tell’ a journey they have been on. We are using these to build a display and to help children understand about different places in the world.

In phonics this week we have continued with phase 4 of letters and sounds. We have been reading and writing cvcc words, for example ‘clap’ and ‘trip’. We have also introduced the tricky words ‘said’ and ‘so’.

In maths this week we have looked at 3D shapes. We have used the correct vocabulary when describing the properties of the shapes with the children. For example we refer to the flat sides as ‘faces’; then where edges meet to form a point, we refer to them as ‘vertices’. For a sphere, cylinder or cone, we use the term ‘curved surface’.

•Please can you ensure that children have suitable outdoor footwear for PE, that they are able to put on by themselves.
