Friday Briefing - 27/04/18

Topic:

This week as part of our topic we have read the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In the role play area the children have had masks and costumes to help them act out the story. The children have had the opportunity to write letters from Goldilocks to the three bears to apologise for going into their home. We have also made porridge in the children’s kitchen, which the children enjoyed eating afterwards.

Phonics:

In phonics this week we have learnt the new sound ‘air’ and practised writing some of our tricky words, including the new tricky word ‘they’. The children are using their phonics to write instructions for making porridge.

Maths:

In maths this week we have continued to look at numbers up to 20. We have looked at  one more and one less than numbers up to 20. The children played a game where they had to spin a coin and either add a cube or take a cube away according to whether it was heads or tails. The team to get 10 cubes first was the winning team. During freeflow the children have ordered objects from small to large.
