Friday Briefing - 20/04/2018

This week we have introduced our new topic ‘Once upon a time…’ where we will be looking at a number of different traditional tales. This week we have read ‘The Three Little Pigs’. Our role play are has been the brick cottage, with role playing props to help the children retell the story. The three little pigs sent an email asking for our help to keep the wolf away and the children have drawn posters and signs, which we have emailed back to the pigs.

In phonics this week we have learnt the new sounds ‘er’ and ‘ear’. The children have applied their phonic knowledge in their group writing and also independently during freeflow.

In maths this week we have looked at numbers within 20. We have talked about how 10 is a special number and we have grouped cubes, straws and lollypop sticks into bunches of 10 to help us to count on from 10.

•As the weather has finally improved, please could you ensure children bring a large bottle of fresh drinking water each day.
•We ask that you apply a high factor sun-cream thoroughly before children come into school as we are unable to apply cream to children during the day.
•Please could children bring a hat to help protect them when playing outside in the sun.
