Friday Briefing - 23/02/2018

This week we have looked at Chinese New Year and found out about how Chinese families celebrate. We have shared the story of how the years came to be named. The children have made Chinese dragon masks, dragon puppets and Chinese lanterns.  Our role play area is a Chinese restaurant and the children have been able to practise using chopsticks.

In phonics this week we have continued with phase 3 of letters and sounds. We have taught the new sounds ‘or’ and ‘oo’. In their group writing the children have written about what they did during the half term holidays.

In maths this week we have looked at numbers to 15. The children have practised counting and then making concrete representations using the bead strings.

•Our class trip will be on March the 13th to Sacrewell farm. You should now have received a letter with information regarding the day. If anyone would like to help on our trip could you please let us know. We can’t guarantee that everyone will be able to help as we have a limited number of spaces available.
