Friday Briefing - 09/02/2018

Topic:

This week we looked at the fire service and what firefighters do. The children have painted pictures of different emergency vehicles. In our group writing the children have chosen an emergency vehicle to label.

Phonics:

In phonics this week we have continued with phase 3 of letters and sounds. We have looked at three new digraphs: ng, ai and ee. We have been encouraging the children to try and spot these digraphs when they are reading.

Maths:

In maths this week we have looked at subtraction stories. The children have used the vocabulary: first, then and now. For example ‘First there were five children skipping, then two children went away, now there are three children skipping.’

•The school are taking part in the Usborne reading challenge between now and the 2nd of March. Children can be sponsored to read as much as possible. Details of this challenge will sent home today.
•Our class trip will be on March the 13th to Sacrewell farm. A letter will be sent home immediately after half term.
