BIRTHDAYS - 10/11/2017

Topic: This week as part of our topic we thought about birthdays and how we celebrate them. The children made party hats which they decorated with our sound of the day ‘h’. Later in the week they made bunting which they decorated with objects beginning with the ‘b’ sound.

Phonics: As part of our phonics lessons, we continued with phase 2 of our letters and sounds. The children learnt the sounds ‘h’, ‘b’ and ‘l’. They have been putting their phonic knowledge into practice by writing shopping lists for a party, listening out for the sounds that they can hear to help them write the words independently.

Maths: In our maths this week the children were introduced to the whole/part model as a means of adding two groups together.
