Once there were Giants - 06/10/2017

Friday Briefing 06.10.17

Topic: This week as part of our topic we have looked at the story ‘Once there were Giants’. The children have talked about their family and have completed a family tree.

Phonics: This week as part of our phonics learning we have continued with phase 2 of letters and sounds. We have introduced the children to the letters ‘p’ ‘i’ and ‘n’ and their corresponding sounds and actions. The children have made ‘peculiar pizzas’ where they could only add toppings beginning with the ‘p’ sound. We have also made instruments.

Maths: This week as part of our maths learning we have been looking at numbers 1-3. We have been practising our 1 to 1 correspondence when counting. We have practised writing the numerals 1,2 and 3. We have also learnt new number songs, for example ‘three blind mice’ and ‘two little dickie birds’.

•If the children find any conkers, pine cones or any other ‘autumnal’ objects, please feel free to bring them in to add to our Autumn display.
•Please could you encourage your children to write their names using a capital letter for the first letter, followed by lower case letters.
•Parents evening – 17th and 19th October  - please sign up on line via the website or speak to the office.
•Tapestry – all children are on Tapestry and we will be adding parents at the beginning of November.
