Thursday Briefing - 01.11.2018

Thursday Briefing 1.11.18

Topic This week we have been learning about bonfire night.  We have watched fireworks and we read about why we have the celebration every year.  We had a go at writing some words about fireworks using our phonics and we have made firework pictures.

Phonics  In phonics this week we have continued phase 2 of Letters and Sounds.  We have taught the sounds ‘e’, ‘u’ and ‘r’.   We are using the letter sounds to read and write simple words in all our phonics sessions.  We will also be sending home the phase 2 tricky words we are working on in class.

Maths This week in maths we have been focusing on more and fewer using quantities of objects up to 6.  We have looked particularly at one more/one fewer.  We are encouraging the children to use full sentences when responding to questions, for example;  One fewer than three is two.  One more than two is three.
