St Botolph’s Church of England Primary School is a thriving community where we provide relevant, enjoyable and motivating opportunities for real life learning.  As a Faith school, it is important for us to develop and foster Christian principles through encouraging active participation in daily worship, fostering close links with our Church and actively promoting positive faith values and ethos at all times.  Our differences are celebrated as we work with, and support, everyone in our school community.Visitors to our school are warmly welcomed and greatly enrich our learning; encouraging as well as strengthening the link between school, home and the wider world.

Our curriculum is driven by eliciting children’s ideas and interests; creating learning opportunities that inspires and challenges all children, whatever their need and abilities, ensuring all children achieve their potential.  Our dedicated and motivated staff pass on their enthusiasm to the children and, through hands-on activities and first hand experiences, make learning exciting, engaging and relevant.  Through creative, inspirational teaching, children are challenged to make appropriate choices, to find solutions for themselves and develop the skills to become lifelong learners.

Staff at St Botolph’s are trained in identifying barriers to learning and work together to assess the ability of children.  Targets set with the children are relevant and achievable, yet challenging. Robust and rigorous assessment and monitoring of pupil progress, is used tosupport the planning of subsequent lessons.  Children soon become active learners and working alongside their teachers, become involved and accountable for their own learning journey.

The school has the benefit of a beautiful, spacious site with easy access to local parks and nature reserves.  Here, children have the freedom to be adventurous and learn practically in a natural environment.  The playground areas are large enough to allow children to play and interact in a variety of self-chosen games whether they are physical or more reflective activities.  A variety of indoor and outdoor pursuits provide the children with a wide range of experiences.  Along with regular school visits for everyone, our older children have the opportunity to explore further the sense of excitement and achievement that comes from completing physically demanding challenges on residential trips.
